How the photo actually gets out
Rarely through a dramatic breach. More often:
- It sits in a sent-mail folder for years, on a mail server neither you nor the recipient actively manages.
- It’s backed up automatically to a phone’s cloud photo library, on your device or the recipient’s.
- It’s forwarded once, out of the original context, and copied again from there.
None of that requires anyone to be targeted specifically — it just requires an unprotected photo sitting somewhere for long enough.
What actually reduces the risk
